The Killings in Wasacona
An interactive murder mystery novella
Walkthrough
This walkthrough is not intended to visit every scene or follow every path. It exists only to guide you on one route to the "best" possible ending.
There is no right or wrong archetype or skillset for the game. However, for the set of steps outlined in this walkthrough, you will have the best chance of success by choosing the "Negotiator" or "Analyst" archetype.
Since time is a factor, be sure to "Start Right Away!" at the initial choice. When you enter the Sheriff's office on the first day, it is important to "Get an Overview Briefing" and "Ask About Family Members". These dialogues will open new locations for you to visit.
Next, travel to visit "Melody's Parents". This is important to prevent a protest later, and there is time to do it on the first day. Additionally, if you want to get the eye-witness, you will need to explore this rabbithole a bit. Following Melody's Parents, visit "Melody's Apartment". This will open the "Party House", but do NOT visit this location tonight.
Next, visit the "Restaurant" and enjoy a meal to get a morale boost, this will increase all your rolls by 1.
Finally for the evening, travel to the "College". You need to "Inspect Where Melody was Found" on the first evening, before the storm, for any chance of finding the bootprints.
It will now be quite late (11 PM) on the first evening. In order to save Jamal, you will need to disrupt her killing, which happens overnight. First, you should travel to the Sheriff's office several times to look for the "LOST DOG" poster, but stop by 2 AM. After that, "drive a patrol loop" (if it is not yet 3 AM, "Continue Patrolling") until the event occurs at 3 AM. You will receive a warning about a negative to your rolls due to tiredness. This is to be expected.
When the event occurs, you can "Question the Pedestarian". If you succeed at the "(Intimidation) Why are you in the park so late?" question, you will unlock the ability to arrest Henry. (But don't do that yet). Given the penalty for being tired, and if you chose the "Analyst" archetype, your chance of success here is very small. Don't worry about it.
The next morning, go back to the "College". You will be tempted to "(Perception) Search Campus for the Car" but DON'T DO THIS YET. Instead, "Speak to the College President". Tell her "No" when she asks if she should close the campus.
Next, "Visit the Biology Professor". Avoid any intimidation option that may appear (depends on your previous rolls). When you leave, the professor will offer to ask around on your behalf. Say "Yes".
You can then "Visit the Art Department" to get a morale boost, this will increase all your rolls by 1.
Next, go to the "Morgue" and discuss all the deaths.
After this, visit the "Party House". Be sure to NOT accuse Chad.
When you leave the party house, you should get a call from Abraham, the biology professor. Answer it to get some evidence.
Immediately after this, you should get a call from the Sheriff. Answer it, and say "Yes" to speaking to the eye-witness. It's Chad.
If you have not yet seen the "LOST DOG" poster at the Sheriff office, visit several times until you see it.
Go to the "College". You can "Approach the Dog" to get a morale boost, this will increase all your rolls by 1.
You now need to find a way to arrest Dr. Black. If you happened to succeed at the intimidation check when you interviewed the pedestarian, this is already an option. Jump to "The Arrest" below. Otherwise, continue with the walkthru.
Now, return to the college, do "(Perception) Search Campus for the Car". Success here (if you have +3 morale and chose the "Analyst" archetype, you have a 95% chance) will enable you to arrest Henry. If so, go to "The Arrest".
If you did not succeed in the search, but you succeeded in finding the bootprints the first night, you have one last chance. "Visit the Chemistry Department" and use "(Intimidation) Let me see your Shoes". If you succeed, you can arrest Dr. Black.
If you did not succeed in any of the required checks to arrest Dr. Black, you will not be able to be a Super Hero. You can still conclude your investigation, or wait for overnight when Dr. Black will kill himself.
The Arrest
Go to the Sheriff's office and select "Arrest Dr. Black". Depending on the time of day, you will be given several options. If you succeeded at the pedestarian interview, or you found the car on the campus, then choose "Arrest Dr. Black at the College". Otherwise, choose "Arrest Dr. Black at Home".
Complete searching the car and house, and then on the conclusion pages, be sure to select "Killed by Chemsitry Professor" for all three deaths.
Congratulations, you're a Super-Hero!
